PONOKA FISH AND GAME (POFIANGA)
Youth Camp Registration & Information
We hold a camp each summer for boys and girls between the ages 12 to 15. The Youth Camp is a week long event of fun and learning. The camp is restricted to first time attendees only. We will be accepting 20 participants by mail in only. Participants must be 12 by August 1st of the attending year.
Fish and Game volunteers and certified instructors will be sharing their expertise in providing instruction in conservation, hunting education certification, survival, water safety, and many other activities.
The camp will be held at the Ponoka Fish and Game Club House (Pofianga). The clubhouse is located on exit 462 (Meniak overpass) on the QE2, 7 miles north of the highway 53 Ponoka over-pass. Go west 1/2 mile turn south at the first crossroad. Then travel 1-mile south and you will see the gate and signage on your left-hand side.
The cost of the Youth Camp is $250.00. This fee includes breakfasts, lunch, supper, and snacks. It also includes the family windup meal Friday afternoon.
Upon successful completion of the materials taught, students will then be certified in the ALBERTA CONSERVATION AND HUNTER EDUCATION PROGRAM. They will then qualify for their WILDLIFE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.
A complete itinerary, supply list, rules, etc. will be mailed out to each successful participant.
Numerous sessions are outside and involve hand-on learning. Hiking books and running shoes are appropriate. Clothing for the camp will include several changes due to weather changes.
This camp is DRUG and ALCOHOL Free. Anyone consuming and or under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be sent home immediately. Students will also be expected to behave appropriate at all times, bad behaviour will not be tolerated as it impacts the experience of the other participants. A complete itinerary, supply list, rules, etc. will be mailed out to each successful participant.
Cell Phones/Electronic Devices
Due to this being an “Outdoor Camp” cell-phones, IPad, etc., are not required for this camp. There is a telephone at the camp should the participants need to call home. We ask that cell phones be left at home otherwise they will be sent home with parents on registration day.
